Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is one of the most iconic open-world action-adventure series available on multiple platforms. While there's no official release for PS Vita, the homebrew community has ported GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas and GTA Chinatown Wars to PS Vita using two different open-source methods. This guide will show you how to install all four.
GTA Series Introduction
GTA Gameplay
The GTA series offers an immersive open-world experience where players can complete missions, explore the city, drive vehicles, and engage in various side activities. Each game has its unique storyline and characters, but all share the core mechanics of free-roaming action and criminal underworld themes.

GTA Storyline
Each GTA game follows a different protagonist navigating the criminal underworld. From Claude's silent revenge in GTA III, Tommy Vercetti's rise in Vice City, to CJ's journey back home in San Andreas, to Huang Lee's quest for revenge and power in GTA Chinatown Wars, the series delivers engaging stories with unforgettable characters and dynamic missions.
Note: These are two different open-source community ports, not data-included packages. GTA III (re3-vita) and GTA Vice City (reVC-vita) are full reverse-engineered engine reimplementations — you need your own PC copy (e.g. from Steam). GTA San Andreas (gtasa_vita) and GTA Chinatown Wars (gtactw_vita) are wrappers that load the official Android executable — you need your own Android APK/OBB. The download links below are for the compiled port files (.vpk) only.

Part 1 - Prepare Your Own Game Data
How to patch GTA III & Vice City (PC-based)
Own a copy on Steam or similar:
1. Install the PC version of GTA III and/or GTA Vice City on your computer.
2. Locate the game's install folder and copy the required data files (game .img/.dir archives, .dat files, audio files, etc. — the exact list is detailed in the re3-vita/reVC-vita installation notes) as instructed by the port's setup guide.
3. Place the copied files into ux0:data/gta3 (for GTA III) or ux0:data/gtavc (for Vice City) on your Vita, matching the folder structure shown in the port's guide.
How to patch GTA San Andreas & Chinatown Wars (Android-based)
Own a copy via Google Play/Amazon:
1. Locate the official .apk and .obb files from your own copy of the game.
2. Rename both files to .zip and extract them.
3. Combine the extracted data and native library files following the port's installation notes, into a folder named gtasa (San Andreas) or ctw (Chinatown Wars).
4. Copy that folder to ux0:data on your Vita.
Part 2 - Install on PS Vita
How to install on your Vita
1. Install kubridge and FdFix by copying kubridge.skprx and fd_fix.skprx to your taiHEN plugins folder and adding two entries under *KERNEL in config.txt: ur0:tai/kubridge.skprx and ur0:tai/fd_fix.skprx. (Skip fd_fix if you're using the repatch plugin. Only needed for the Android-based ports: GTA SA and GTA CTW.)
2. Move libshacccg.suprx into ur0:data if you don't already have it.
3. Install AutopluginII.vpk if you plan to use it for managing plugins.
4. Launch VitaShell and install GTA3.vpk, GTAVC.vpk, GTASA.vpk and/or GTACTW.vpk for whichever games you've prepared data for.
5. Launch the games.
IMPORTANT: After installation, GTA SA might have a bug where the vehicle's camera view changes automatically. To fix this, simply press on the GTA SA bubble and delete the game. Then, open VitaShell and reinstall the .vpk file.

Do all 4 games need the same type of game data?
No. GTA III and Vice City need your own PC copy of the game (e.g. from Steam). GTA San Andreas and Chinatown Wars need your own Android copy (APK + OBB). See Part 1 above for each.
